Concrete Lifting & Leveling Services in Anaheim, California
There are many signs that a concrete slab has begun to sink and settle. Perhaps your driveway is suddenly an inch or two below the entrance to your garage. Maybe a sidewalk slab appears to be tilting. The stress might be causing cracks with elevation changes on either side. Regardless, the solution is concrete leveling, also known as concrete lifting.
Foundations on the Level has the knowledge, equipment, and experience to raise and level the uneven or cracked concrete slab at your Anaheim home or business. Contact us today to schedule an appointment for a free estimate.
Where Can Polyurethane Concrete Leveling be Used?
Concrete slabs are all around us. We walk on them, drive on them, park on them and play on them. Our homes and garages are often built on them. And if there is a concrete slab that is sinking, chances are we can level it with polyurethane foam.
Concrete slabs that we can level include:
- Driveways
- Sidewalks
- Patios
- Steps
- Garage Slabs
- Pool Decks
- Roads
- Parking Lots
- Home Foundation Slabs
Our Concrete Leveling Process
At Foundations on the Level, we use polyurethane foam to level concrete, also sometimes called polyjacking. This process cures faster, is less invasive and is more permanent than the alternative, mudjacking.
If we recommend concrete lifting after your free inspection, and you choose to hire us, the process will be completed quickly, with little disruption to your property.
We drill small holes roughly the size of a dime into the concrete and inject the expanding foam through them. The foam spreads out beneath the slab, filling any voids below the it and compressing any loose soil supporting the concrete. Once the voids are filled, the expanding foam hydraulically lifts the slab back to within a fraction of inch of the desired height.
Once the slab is level, the holes are filled and you are ready to use the concrete slab again. The foam takes around 15 minutes to cure, so once everything is cleaned up, you can use the concrete surface like normal.
The foam is impervious to water or chemicals found in the soil. It won't break down for as long as it is underground. This makes it a permanent solution.
Benefits of Concrete Slab Leveling
When your slab starts to sink, you have two options: Fix the underlying problem or wait until the entire slab needs to be replaced.
You can probably guess what the less invasive and expensive option is.
The polyurethane injection process is minimally invasive, with only the small holes drilled in the concrete needed to level the slab. We fill those holes when we are done, and the area around the slab remains undisturbed. You cannot say the same thing for replacing the slab. The old concrete needs to be broken up and removed and new concrete poured. The machinery used is heavier and the disturbance greater.
Second, the process is quick. Most slabs can be leveled quickly, with even the larger ones rarely taking more than a day. And as mentioned earlier, they can be used almost immediately, without waiting for an entire slab of new concrete to cure.
The reduced time and materials also make it the more affordable option, especially when you look long term.
That is because if you simply lay another concrete slab over the same unsupported soil, there is a good chance you will be dealing with more problems as the new slab sinks as well. Whether you use foam or other means to eliminate voids and ensure it is properly compacted, something must be done.
